The Washington Redskins announced the signing of seventh round draft picks Richard Crawford and Jordan Bernstine on Friday. The defensive backfield pair are the first of the Redskins draft choices to have agreed to terms with the team.
The 5-11 190 pound Crawford played his college ball at SMU where he was first team all conference at both cornerback and punt returner. Tape on Crawford reveals somewhat raw coverage skills, however he does have an eye for the ball and is an excellent tackler.
Iowa safety and return specialist Jordan Bernstine was regarded as a rising prospect at the time of the draft. He is expected to make an immediate impact on special teams owing to his toughness and athleticism. The former Parade All-American averaged 23.8 yards per kickoff return.
All rookie contracts are of a four year duration. Seventh round draft picks generally play for the minimum amount, which is roughly 2 million over the life of the contract.
