The premier event on the DC sports scene yesterday was the appearance of Robert Griffin III at a Chantilly, Va card show. Griffin, who is expected to be chosen second by the Washington Redskins in the upcoming 2012 NFL draft, appeared alongside other NFL luminaries such as Michael Vick, Julio Jones, Dexter Manley and Redskins Roy Helu.
Griffin appeared calm and confident as handlers filed him inside, as fans erupted with shouts of joy at his appearance. Repeated requests for interviews from the Washington Post’s Mike Jones were denied. Nonetheless, Griffin stayed at the event for approximately five hours, affixing his signature to Baylor and Redskin helmets for $100 a pop.
